Spitfire Homes began work in March 2025 on 182 homes off Cromwell Lane, on the western side of Coventry near Burton Green. The builder describes two to five-bedroom homes with 32 per cent affordable housing and expected the first to be ready from spring 2026. With two to five bedrooms on offer, the scheme mixes first homes with larger family houses.
The council's planning register is busy here. It shows 14 applications for the land on the west side of Cromwell Lane between February 2025 and April 2026, split between amendments and approvals of details reserved by condition, as the build moves forward.
Cromwell Lane runs south towards Burton Green, the village above the HS2 tunnel, so this corner of the city has had construction crews at work for several years.
A build of 182 homes over several phases needs site managers, sales staff for the show homes and trades from groundworkers to kitchen fitters, many of them staying for weeks at a time.
