About Jaguar Land Rover, Castle Bromwich

JLR calls Castle Bromwich the spiritual home of Jaguar manufacturing since 1977. The plant stands on a 112-acre site in Castle Vale, on the eastern edge of Birmingham. In the Second World War the same works built Spitfire and Lancaster aircraft.

Car assembly there ended in June 2024, when the XE, XF and F-Type went out of production as JLR moved towards electric cars. The company said its UK plants were being reconfigured for its next generation of electric models and that the stampings operation at Castle Bromwich would be expanded to make body panels for all of its brands.

The press shop is part of how JLR builds cars today. When the company restarted manufacturing in October 2025, staff returned to its stamping operations at Castle Bromwich, Halewood and Solihull in the very first week.

Reconfiguring a plant brings in its own workforce: press installers, electricians, controls engineers and the suppliers who commission new lines. Castle Vale is on the Coventry side of Birmingham, so a base in the city keeps the M6 within easy reach.

Sullivan Heights is about 19 miles by road from the plant, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 21 miles and Humber Hub about 21 miles. Sullivan Heights, on the north side of Coventry, is the closest of the four. Every house comes with free parking and a full kitchen, which a shift crew notices after a week.
