About Burton Green

Burton Green is a village and civil parish in Warwick District, about three miles north-west of Kenilworth and five and a half miles south-west of Coventry. It is mostly houses surrounded by farmland, with a village hall, a primary school and a pub restaurant and it became a parish in its own right, separated from Stoneleigh, in 2012.

The village sits right on the border with south-west Coventry, running into the city's Westwood Heath district and borders the borough of Solihull to the north-west. It is made up of four roads, Red Lane, Hob Lane, Hodgetts Lane and Cromwell Lane and a disused water tower off Cromwell Lane has been turned into a private home.

HS2 passes underneath the centre of Burton Green in a tunnel about 700 metres long. The line reuses the route of a disused railway between Kenilworth and Berkswell, which closed in 1969 and became a greenway.

The old village hall stood in the path of the railway and has been demolished and replaced with a new hall elsewhere in the village. With the tunnel and the works around it, Burton Green has been one of the busiest HS2 locations near Coventry.

Stoke Lodge and Stoke House are about 7 miles by road from Burton Green, Humber Hub about 8 miles and Sullivan Heights about 9 miles. For HS2 teams working on this stretch, a whole house gives a crew a bed each, a kitchen, laundry and parking for the vans.
