About University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is a public research university founded in 1965, on a 290-hectare campus on the outskirts of Coventry between the West Midlands and Warwickshire. By the end of 2023 it had more than 28,000 students, over 9,000 of them postgraduates. It is a member of the Russell Group.

Its schools grew in stages: Warwick Business School in 1967, the Law School in 1968, Warwick Manufacturing Group in 1980 and Warwick Medical School in 2000. Warwick Arts Centre, on the main campus, is the largest venue of its kind in the UK outside London.

WMG, founded by Kumar Bhattacharyya, works with industry on research and education and is a centre of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Its advanced technology centre was opened in 1990. The group also helped set up the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre nearby.

The main campus has two neighbours of its own. The Gibbet Hill campus holds Life Sciences and the pre-clinical work of Warwick Medical School, while the Westwood campus hosts the Arden House conference centre. The university also runs the University of Warwick Science Park.

Stoke Lodge and Stoke House are about 5 miles by road from the university, Humber Hub about 6 miles and Sullivan Heights about 7 miles. For visiting academics, conference speakers, graduation families or project teams, a whole house gives room to work and to cook.
