Accommodation near Magna Park, Lutterworth

Magna Park, beside Lutterworth in south Leicestershire, is described by its owner GLP as the largest dedicated logistics and distribution park in the UK and Europe. In its April 2024 brochure GLP counted 38 customers and more than 13.1 million square feet of floor space across 47 buildings.

The park began in 1988 as a collaboration between the Church of England and Asda, on the site of the former RAF Bitteswell airfield. It is widely seen as the pioneer of the large British distribution centre and in 2008 it was the largest distribution centre in Europe.

Its position explains its size. Magna Park sits inside the triangle formed by the M1, M6 and M69, the area behind the phrase golden logistics triangle, which GLP says was first used about this part of the Midlands in the late 1980s. Junction 20 of the M1 is the nearest motorway junction, with junction 1 of the M6 and junction 1 of the M69 a little further.

Occupiers named by GLP include DHL, Iron Mountain, Unipart, Amazon, Bleckmann, Rhenus, Asda and Primark. The next phase, Magna Park North Phase II, offers build-to-suit plots totalling about 2 million square feet, the first able to take a single building of up to 1.6 million.

Sullivan Heights is about 17 miles by road from Magna Park, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 17 miles and Humber Hub about 18 miles. For fit-out crews, commissioning engineers and teams on a long contract, a whole house with parking, a kitchen and a washing machine is a settled alternative to a run of hotel rooms.
