About Holbrook Lane, the former Meggitt site
Meggitt's aircraft braking business occupied a 65-acre site off Holbrook Lane in the north of Coventry. The land is being redeveloped in parts: homes on one side, a business park on another and the former company playing fields kept as open space for the community.
Persimmon opened Whitmore Place, 347 homes on the site of the former factory, in March 2022, with 73 of them affordable and a mix running from two-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom detached houses. The West Midlands Combined Authority said in January 2023 that permission had been granted for 500 homes on the land.
Elsewhere on the site Chancerygate is building Holbrook Business Park with WMCA money: a £15 million investment in 2023 for a second phase of 14 units on seven more acres, which the authority expected to create 295 jobs on top of around 200 from the first phase.
The council's planning register shows seven applications on the Meggitt land between January 2025 and May 2026, all of them to approve details reserved by condition, so building is still moving through its phases, plot by plot and unit by unit.
Sullivan Heights is about 3 miles by road from the site, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 4 miles and Humber Hub about 4 miles. Sullivan Heights, on the north side of the city, is the closest of the four.
