University visits near Leamington Spa

Leamington has further education on its doorstep, with the first of Warwickshire College's six sites in the town and another just outside it, but its nearest universities are to the north: the University of Warwick on the south-western edge of Coventry and Coventry University in the city centre.

Getting to campus is simple without a car. National Express Coventry runs a high-frequency bus from Leamington through Kenilworth to the University of Warwick and on to Coventry. Leamington and Warwick were joined by trams from 1881 to 1930; today Stagecoach buses run on to Warwick, Banbury, Stratford-upon-Avon and Rugby.

Stoke Lodge and Stoke House are about 5 miles by road from the University of Warwick, Humber Hub about 6 miles and Sullivan Heights about 7 miles. Coventry University is about a mile from Humber Hub, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House.

The Smallpeice Trust and the Arkwright Scholarships Trust, both based in Leamington, encourage school pupils towards careers in science and engineering. The town's Woodbine Street Recording Studios have hosted Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene and The Specials. Warwickshire College's Leamington campus is the first of its six sites. For graduation week the family stays under one roof, with free parking outside.

After the ceremony, Leamington's Royal Pump Rooms, Jephson Gardens and Parade make an easy afternoon out on the way home.
