For most of two centuries the town was served by the Warneford Hospital, opened in 1832 and named after the philanthropist Samuel Wilson Warneford. It passed to the NHS after the Second World War and closed in 1993, when its services moved to Warwick Hospital and to Walsgrave, now University Hospital Coventry.

Leamington still has the NHS Leamington Spa Hospital, beside the Warwick Gates estate. The private Warwickshire Nuffield Hospital is in the town too. In July 2021 the Rosalind Franklin laboratory opened in the town as a national testing centre, designed to handle hundreds of thousands of samples a day.

Humber Hub is about 10 miles by road from Warwick Hospital, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 10 miles and Sullivan Heights about 12 miles. For shifts at Walsgrave, Sullivan Heights is about 2 miles by road from University Hospital Coventry, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 3 miles and Humber Hub about 4 miles.

On a placement, the small things count: a kitchen for meals at odd hours, a washing machine for uniforms and self check-in when a shift runs late. Sullivan Heights has a separate tumble dryer and three bedrooms, so colleagues on the same rota can share. Warwick Hospital lies in the neighbouring county town, which joins Leamington across the Avon, with Myton and Heathcote stretching between the two.

National Express Coventry runs a frequent bus between Leamington, Kenilworth, the University of Warwick and Coventry, which helps a clinician without a car.
