About Lyons Park, Coventry

Lyons Park is an industrial and logistics park on the north-west side of Coventry, built on the site of Jaguar's Browns Lane factory and reached from Sayer Way. It is named after Sir William Lyons, the founder of Jaguar. The housing alongside, Swallow's Nest, has roads named after him and his Jaguar colleagues.

The site began as one of the shadow factories built for the Second World War, run by Daimler to make aircraft engine parts. After the war Jaguar, short of space at Foleshill, leased the works for £30,000 for five years and moved its whole operation across in convoys of lorries at weekends.

Browns Lane became the home of Jaguar. In 1988 it built more than 50,000 cars in a year for the first time and in 1998 a museum for the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust opened just inside the gate. The last of 1,447,677 cars built there, an XJ saloon, came off the line on 1 July 2005.

The land was later sold for housing and light industry. The developer Goodman has built about 800,000 square feet of industrial and logistics space on the park, including a 464,000 square foot distribution centre for Amazon and 135,000 square feet for Jaguar Land Rover. It has also won approval for a further warehouse of about 106,000 square feet with a 24-hour lorry park of 173 spaces.

Sullivan Heights is about 5 miles by road from Lyons Park, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 5 miles and Humber Hub about 6 miles. For warehouse teams, shift workers and contractors on the park, every house gives a bed each, a kitchen and free parking, with self check-in for late arrivals.
