University visitor accommodation for Warwick

Visitors are often surprised to learn that the University of Warwick takes its name from the county, not the town. Its campus sits several miles north of Warwick on the southern outskirts of Coventry, which is why families booking a graduation should look at Coventry as well as Warwick.

Warwick still has a long history of schooling. Warwick School may be the oldest boys' school in England, with a grammar school in the town since before the Norman Conquest. The University of Warwick's student newspaper, The Boar, is among the local papers.

Stoke Lodge and Stoke House are about 5 miles by road from the University of Warwick, Humber Hub about 6 miles and Sullivan Heights about 7 miles. Coventry University, in the city centre, is about a mile from Humber Hub, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House.

Henry VIII refounded Warwick School in 1545, though a grammar school stood in the town before the Norman Conquest and the date of 914 sometimes quoted is uncertain. Today it belongs to the Warwick Independent Schools Foundation with the King's High School for Girls and Warwick Preparatory School, while Myton and Aylesford are the town's state secondaries.

For an evening after the ceremony, St Mary's Church holds a series of early music concerts and the Bridge House Theatre runs the Music-in-Round programme.

After the ceremony, Warwick Castle and the Lord Leycester Hospital on the High Street make a good afternoon out.
