Coventry University grew from the Coventry School of Design of 1843 and gained university status in 1992. Its 33-acre campus sits inside the ring road, with the Frederick Lanchester Library, opened in 2000, at its heart.

Before heading home, Hinckley Museum, in a row of 17th-century framework knitters' cottages, is open from Easter Monday to the end of October.

Back in Hinckley, the basketball club founded in 1974 by staff and students of John Cleveland College still plays as the Hinckley 69ers and the Hinckley Hail.
