Long stay accommodation for Hinckley

Hinckley sits on the A5 and the M69. The A5 runs north-west to Tamworth and south-east to Milton Keynes, while the M69 links the town to Coventry, Leicester, the M1 and the M6. That position has drawn warehouses and distribution work to the edges of the town.

Industry here goes back a long way. Electricity first reached Hinckley in 1913 from a power station on Nutts Lane, beside the railway and the Ashby Canal, which closed in the early 1950s when the National Grid took over. The town had 5,158 people at the first census in 1801.

Sullivan Heights is about 11 miles by road from Hinckley, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 12 miles and Humber Hub about 13 miles. On a stay of several months the details matter: a washing machine, a kitchen, a sofa and free parking.

The town has a long memory of its neighbours: in the Civil War, troops from the Coventry garrison took horses and free quarter here and held some townspeople for ransom.

For the evenings, Hinckley Ladies' Netball Club plays at the Leicester Road sports ground and Hinckley Gymnastics Club, set up in 1971, trains at Clarendon Park.

The Coventry Canal begins at a basin just north of the city centre, opened in 1769. Its towpath leads out towards Hawkesbury Junction for an evening walk.
