Short lets for a few nights near Lutterworth

Lutterworth once had three railway stations within a few miles. Its own, on the Great Central Main Line, opened in 1899 and closed in 1969; Ullesthorpe and Lutterworth station, about 3 miles north-west, closed in 1962 and Welford and Kilworth, about 5 miles east, in 1966. Rugby, about six miles south, is now the nearest.

The A4303 southern bypass, opened in 1999, carries traffic from the M1 to the A5 round the town, so the old centre with its coaching inns and its church is easy to visit on foot.

Sullivan Heights is about 15 miles by road from Lutterworth, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 16 miles and Humber Hub about 17 miles. A short let means space to spread out, a kitchen for breakfast and free parking, which a single hotel room does not give.

The Shambles, a thatched timber-framed inn of the 16th century, was a pub from 1791 to 1840 and again from 1982.

The town is about 12 miles south of Leicester. Buses from Arriva Midlands and Centrebus run to Leicester, Market Harborough and Hinckley for a day out.

John Wycliffe, rector here from 1374 to 1384, is said to have worked on the first English Bible in the town.
