Long stay accommodation for Daventry

Daventry was a coaching town until the London and Birmingham Railway opened in 1838 and took its trade. Its population slid from 4,565 in 1841 to 3,516 in 1911 and the town's own station, on the branch from Weedon to Leamington, closed to passengers in 1958.

Today it is one of the largest towns in England without a railway station; Long Buckby, about four miles north-east, is the nearest. Stagecoach runs the D1 and D2 buses from Daventry and Rugby to DIRFT. The A361 heads south-west to junction 11 of the M40.

Humber Hub is about 18 miles by road from Daventry, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 19 miles and Sullivan Heights about 21 miles. On a contract of several months, a washing machine, a kitchen and free parking matter more than a short commute.

For evenings and weekends, Daventry Town FC plays non-league football and the skate park on New Street Recreation Ground, opened in 2013, keeps teenagers busy on a family relocation.

Numbers recovered only slowly, reaching 4,077 in 1951 before the overspill growth of the 1960s. Staverton Park Golf Club lies just outside the town, while BBC Radio Northampton and Connect Radio carry the local news.

Stagecoach runs local and regional buses from bases in Northampton and Rugby. A radio beacon for aircraft, identifier DTY, stands about four miles south of the town.
