Borough Hill dominates the eastern edge of Daventry. The BBC built a transmitter there in 1925 because the spot reached the most of England and Wales; by 1990 it had 43 masts, but it closed in 1992 and most of the land became a country park. The Daventry and District Golf Club plays across the side of the hill.

Radio history draws enthusiasts. On 26 February 2010, 75 years to the day after the first radar demonstration, teams from the Coventry Amateur Radio Society and the Northampton Radio Club re-enacted the Daventry Experiment, detecting aircraft from a replica Morris van at the Birth of Radar memorial at Litchborough.

Humber Hub is about 18 miles by road from Daventry, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 19 miles and Sullivan Heights about 21 miles. Humber Hub sleeps 10, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House nine each next door to one another and Sullivan Heights six.

Daventry Country Park, built around a canal reservoir north-east of the centre, has walks, a nature trail, a play area and a café for a family day out before heading back to the house.

Daventry Town FC play non-league football at the Master Abrasives Stadium and Daneholme park, bounded by the old railway cuttings, is a quieter spot for a picnic.
