Cummins runs its largest UK plant in Daventry, building some of its biggest diesel engines for ships, railcars and generator sets. Ford opened a national spare-parts warehouse on the Royal Oak estate in 1972; at 130 acres and £2.25 million it was for many years thought to be the largest building in the country.

Distribution followed the motorway. In 2004 DHL opened a national distribution centre for J D Wetherspoon on the Drayton Fields estate north-west of the town and in 2011 the iCon building opened on Eastern Way, with conference rooms, a 300-seat auditorium and 55 units for firms in low-carbon construction and environmental technology.

Humber Hub is about 18 miles by road from Daventry, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 19 miles and Sullivan Heights about 21 miles. The A45 links Daventry west to Rugby and Coventry, so the run out to a client meeting is one road. A visiting team gets one house and one pro-forma invoice with its PO reference.

For a team staying in Coventry, the city is changing fast: City Centre South, a £450 million scheme, saw its first tower rise in October 2026 after demolition of the old precinct was finished.

Trade has always followed the road here: a market was recorded in 1203, helped by the town's place on the main road from Coventry to Watling Street, now the A45.
