Bedworth grew on coal and ribbon weaving. Most of those trades have gone, but specialist manufacturing carries on: Toye, Kenning & Spencer makes hats and caps, banners, flags, medal ribbons and Masonic regalia in the town.

The main industrial area is the Bayton Road estate at Exhall. Premiere Group makes sheet metal products there, mainly for the motor industry. It won the contract to make 12,000 Olympic torches for London 2012. The German company Brose, which supplies car components to 80 vehicle makers, has its UK factory on the same estate.

Bayton Road has motor-racing history. Abbey Panels built prototype bodies there for many car makers, including the first alloy-bodied Jaguar XK120s in 1948 and the bodies of Jaguar's Le Mans winners of the 1950s. The business continues as Loades, now making steel buildings.

Bedworth sits just north of junction 3 of the M6, with slip roads onto the A444 bypass towards Nuneaton, the arena and north Coventry. Its station, reopened in 1988, has an hourly train each way between Leamington Spa and Nuneaton. Domestic & General and Warwickshire County Council also have offices in the town.

Sullivan Heights is about 5 miles by road from Bedworth, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 6 miles and Humber Hub about 6 miles. For a maintenance crew on the Bayton Road estate, any of the four houses is close enough to be back for an evening meal cooked in a proper kitchen.
