University visits from Atherstone

Atherstone's own schools stop at secondary age, so its students head away for degrees, often south to Coventry University in the city centre or the University of Warwick on Coventry's south-western edge.

The town's notable people include William Yolland, the military surveyor, astronomer and engineer who became Britain's Chief Inspector of Railways, the botanist Sir John Bretland Farmer and Rhoda Sutherland, a scholar of Old French and Old Provençal.

Coming from the north, Sullivan Heights is about 2 miles from the Coventry University campus and about 7 miles from the University of Warwick.

For a graduation, an open day or a moving-in weekend, a whole house lets the family stay together, eat in and park for free.

If part of the family comes by train, Atherstone's hourly service on the West Coast Main Line runs through Nuneaton, where trains on the branch through Bedworth reach Coventry.
