Ryton-on-Dunsmore is the village on the A45 where Rootes, Chrysler and Peugeot built cars for more than sixty years.
Ryton-on-Dunsmore is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Rugby, about five and a half miles south-east of Coventry and eight miles west of Rugby. The A45 dual carriageway cuts through it and Bubbenhall, Stretton-on-Dunsmore and Wolston are its neighbours. The parish had 1,813 residents at the 2011 census.
For more than sixty years the village was defined by its car plant. The Rootes Group built the factory in 1940 to make aircraft engines, then made it the group headquarters after the war. Chrysler took over in stages during the 1960s and sold it to PSA Peugeot Citroën for a symbolic single dollar in 1978, when the cars became Talbots.
Peugeot began building the 309 here in 1985, followed by the 405, the 306 and finally the 206, whose millionth car came off the line in February 2004. The plant closed on 12 December 2006 and demolition began the following November. Network Rail later bought the site and opened a distribution centre there in 2013.
The village has other claims too. Garden Organic, the organic growing charity, keeps a ten-acre demonstration garden here, Ryton Pools Country Park is about a mile to the south-west and Coventry City's academy, the Sky Blues Lodge, is based on the Leamington Road.

The place was fantastic, the bed was clean and orderly, cozy and comfortable, and we loved the cupcakes left on the table. Perfect for anyone new to Coventry for business or fun.
