Short lets for a few nights near Kenilworth

The town's landmark is its clock tower on a roundabout in the centre, built in 1906 to 1907 by George Marshall Turner in memory of his wife. Bombing in 1940 wrecked its top, which was pulled down and fully restored in the 1970s. Nearby, a Kugel ball water feature called the Millennium Globe turns in the town centre.

Shopping is around Warwick Street, Abbey End and Talisman Square, a 1960s precinct modernised in 2008 with a Waitrose. Kenilworth has been a Fairtrade Town since 2007. Near the castle stands a row of thatched cottages called Little Virginia; legend says Sir Walter Raleigh's first potatoes from the New World were grown there, though historians doubt it.

Humber Hub is about 8 miles by road from Kenilworth, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 8 miles and Sullivan Heights about 10 miles. A whole house for two or three nights means space to spread out after a day at the castle, a table to eat at and a sofa in front of the television. For dinner, the Michelin-starred Cross is in the town itself.
