Stays near Bell Green

Mostly residential, Bell Green lies in north-east Coventry roughly two and a half miles out from the centre, next to Wood End and Manor House.

The heart of the district is Riley Square, a shopping centre ringed by flats that the City Architect's Department put up between 1957 and 1965; the area's health centre sits just beyond it. Its library, once in the square, now runs from the Park Edge Community Hub. Dewis House, 17 storeys and roughly 51 metres tall, holds 94 flats and is the tallest building around.

A short way east, on Clifford Bridge Road in Walsgrave on Sowe, is University Hospital Coventry, which the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust runs. It opened in July 2006. Buses run from it to Nuneaton, Bedworth and Rugby. Coventry's planned Very Light Rail would put the hospital at one end of its first route, with Coventry station at the other.

That closeness to the hospital is the main reason people look for a short stay here: nurses and doctors on placement, agency teams and relatives who want to be nearby for a few days or weeks.
