Northampton General Hospital, the district general hospital, began in a townhouse on George Row in 1744 and has been on its present site since 1793. Its Macmillan Haematology Unit, a multimillion-pound cancer facility, opened in October 2012.

The town also has St Andrew's Hospital, the flagship mental health hospital of the charity St Andrew's Healthcare, first opened in 1838. Berrywood Hospital opened as an asylum in 1876 and took its current name in 2010.

Our houses are in Coventry, about 32 miles from Northampton, so they suit a clinician whose placement is in Coventry or Rugby rather than in Northampton itself. Sullivan Heights is about 2 miles from University Hospital Coventry.

A placement can run for weeks or months, with self check-in, a kitchen for meals at odd hours and a washing machine in every house.

NHS Northampton guides primary care and funds hospital treatment for the town. Two series of BBC Three's Bizarre ER were filmed at Northampton General. In Coventry, University Hospital Coventry at Walsgrave belongs to the trust that also runs St Cross in Rugby.

Berrywood was known as St Crispin Hospital from 1948. Moulton Park, home of the town's Met Office station, is one of its highest points.

The place was fantastic, the bed was clean and orderly, cozy and comfortable, and we loved the cupcakes left on the table. Perfect for anyone new to Coventry for business or fun.
