Humber Hub

The nearest home to Southam: about 12 miles by road.

HS2 runs just south of Southam and the old cement quarry is still worked. Our nearest home is about 12 miles from the town, with a bed for every crew member.
The biggest job near Southam is HS2. The new line passes immediately south of the town on its way between London and Birmingham, with no stations on that stretch, which keeps civils, rail and site-support crews working in the fields around it.
Southam sits on Blue Lias limestone. For many years a cement works and quarry stood about a mile north of the town, served by rail and by a short arm of the Grand Union Canal; Rugby Cement moved production to Rugby in 2000 and the works was demolished in 2011, but quarrying on the site carries on.
South of the town an industrial estate is a significant local employer. Junction 12 of the M40, about 7.5 miles south, serves both Southam and the Jaguar Land Rover Gaydon Centre, while the A423 runs north to Coventry and the A425 links Leamington Spa with Daventry.
Humber Hub is about 12 miles by road from Southam, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 13 miles and Sullivan Heights about 14 miles. A crew takes a whole house to itself, with its own front door, space for the vans, a washing machine for the hi-vis and a pro-forma invoice made out to the firm that pays.
A big gang can split between Stoke Lodge and Stoke House, which stand side by side and sleep nine each. Humber Hub suits a smaller team on early shifts: each of its four bedrooms has an en-suite, so nobody waits for the shower at six.
Southam has hosted working crews before. RAF Southam, a training airfield just east of the town, opened in 1940 and closed at the end of 1944. Goods trains served the cement works on the old Weedon to Marton Junction line until 1985.

The place was fantastic, the bed was clean and orderly, cozy and comfortable, and we loved the cupcakes left on the table. Perfect for anyone new to Coventry for business or fun.
Excellent host.
Great place for a short stay. Quiet area, property exactly as described, spot clean, check-in extremely easy. Host was very friendly and checked in on our 2nd day.
