Group accommodation for a trip to Southam

Southam's Holy Well has been recorded since 998 and the town still has its French street market. Our four houses take a group of up to 34.

St James's, the parish church behind Market Hill, was built in the 14th century; its spire was added in the 15th and the clerestory and roof in the 16th. The church is listed grade I. The 16th-century manor house in the centre of town is listed grade II.

A French street market has filled High Street since the 1990s and returned in 2022 after the pandemic. The footpath from the church along the Stowe valley to the Holy Well, where water pours from stone gargoyles, then on to Stoneythorpe Hall makes a good walk for a group.

A party of 34 can fill all four houses: ten at Humber Hub, eighteen across Stoke Lodge and Stoke House and six at Sullivan Heights. Stoke Lodge is about 13 miles from Southam.

Reunions and wedding guests can cook together in two kitchens side by side and park free at every house. Please note the houses take no parties or events, no smoking indoors and no pets.

Civil War history is close at hand. On 23 August 1642 Parliamentary troops under Lord Brooke fought Royalists under the Earl of Northampton outside Southam, a skirmish locals claim as the first battle of the war. Charles I later stayed at the Manor House before Edgehill.

The Old Mint pub, an early 16th-century building listed grade II, is where Charles I had coins struck to pay his troops. Between 1966 and 1985 the town even had a small zoo.
