Where Coventry is building new homes in 2026

Coventry's planning register logged dozens of large housing applications between January 2025 and the summer of 2026. These are the places they cluster.

Researched and written 17 October 2026. Sources are listed at the end.

The urban extensions

Keresley, on the north-western edge, is planned for around 3,100 homes, with Bellway, David Wilson Homes and Lioncourt among the builders. It drew 58 large applications on the register between January 2025 and July 2026, more than any other site in the city.

To the west, Eastern Green is a 435-acre urban extension the council has programmed from 2019 to 2039, with at least 2,250 homes beside the new Pickford Interchange employment park on the A45. South of Finham, Warwick District Council expects Kings Hill to deliver up to 4,000 homes by 2050.

Inside the city

The Spon End development site, west of the city centre, has permission for around 750 homes, starting with 257 affordable homes and works to the River Sherbourne. On Abbotts Lane, Abbotts Park is planned for up to 700 apartments and a linear park on land empty since 2012.

By the canal

Taylor Wimpey is selling Waterside Gardens, 262 homes beside the Coventry Canal at Sutton Stop. Nearer the city centre, the council's Daimler Wharf record describes houses and apartments on 7 acres between Sandy Lane and the canal.

Close to our houses in Stoke

Three schemes sit within a couple of miles of our homes: The Spires, 196 affordable homes off Siddeley Avenue; Barratt's The Watchmakers off Isadora Lea; and Taylor Wimpey's Allard Way, up to 125 homes on the southern fringe. The Spires is under a mile by road from Stoke Lodge and Stoke House.

Who is building

The housebuilders at work across these sites include Bellway, David Wilson Homes, Lioncourt, Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes, Persimmon and Spitfire Homes. Housing associations are building too: Platform Housing Group with Countryside Partnerships at The Spires; L&Q's land business at Wilsons Lane in Longford.

Staying while you wait

Completion dates on a building site can move. A furnished house nearby, booked by the week, covers the gap between selling one home and moving into the next.
