Why the gap happens
New-build homes are often sold off-plan or part-built. The date a plot is ready depends on the build programme. Planning paperwork runs alongside: the council's register shows Coventry's big sites still approving conditions and amendments phase by phase through 2025 and 2026.
Sites selling in 2026
Barratt Homes has show homes open at The Watchmakers off Isadora Lea in Stoke. Taylor Wimpey is selling at Allard Way on the southern fringe and at Waterside Gardens by the canal at Sutton Stop. Spitfire Homes expected its first homes off Cromwell Lane from spring 2026. Platform is marketing shared-ownership homes at The Spires in Stoke Aldermoor.
What a short-term house gives you
A whole house means bedrooms for the family, a full kitchen and somewhere to put the boxes, rather than a single hotel room. Stays run from a few nights to several months, so the booking can match the build.
Questions to ask the sales team
Ask which build stage your plot has reached, the window the builder expects for legal completion and how much notice you will get of the date. With those answers a short stay can be booked for the right number of weeks rather than guessed.
Close to the sites
Our four homes are in Stoke. The Watchmakers is about a mile away by road from the nearest of them, Allard Way about a mile and Sutton Stop about 3 miles.
