The Royal Pump Rooms
Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum is in the Royal Pump Rooms on the Parade. Its collection of more than 12,000 objects covers fine and decorative art and the social history of the town, with exhibitions, talks and workshops. The International String Quartet series plays in the Pump Rooms too.
Gardens by the river
Jephson Gardens lie beside the River Leam close to the Pump Rooms. Badly damaged in the floods of 1998, they were restored with National Lottery funding. Across the river, the Elephant Walk is a Victorian slipway built so circus elephants wintering in Leamington could drink. Mill Gardens, Victoria Park and Newbold Comyn add more green space.
Music and festivals
The Assembly, a 1,000-capacity venue, was named Live Music Venue of the Year at the 2010 Music Week Awards. Since 1978 the free Peace Festival has filled the Pump Room Gardens with alternative culture, returning after the pandemic. The Spa Centre has a theatre and a cinema.
Sport and architecture
Leamington Tennis Court Club has the oldest purpose-built real tennis court in the world. Victoria Park hosts the National Lawn Bowls Championships each year. Walk Lansdowne Crescent, designed in the 1830s by William Thomas, for the town's Regency style.
Getting there
Humber Hub is about 9 miles by road from Leamington Spa, Stoke Lodge and Stoke House about 10 miles and Sullivan Heights about 12 miles. Trains on the line through Kenilworth link it with Coventry.
