About Hillfields

Hillfields sits just north of Coventry city centre. Known as Harnall until 1828, it became the city's first suburb that year, as Coventry began to spread beyond its old walls. Primrose Hill Park is part of the district and Sidney Stringer Academy is its secondary school.

It grew quickly with the motor trade: by 1905 there were 20 motor manufacturers in Hillfields alone. The district suffered badly in the Second World War, when 192 houses were destroyed or demolished and nearly 1,450 more were seriously damaged. Thirteen tower blocks went up in the rebuilding of the 1960s and 1970s.

Football gave Hillfields its best-known landmark. Coventry City played at Highfield Road from 1899 until 2005 and it became the first all-seater stadium in the English league. The last game there, on 30 April 2005, was a 6–2 win over Derby County, in a ground that then held 23,489. The stands came down in 2006 and the site became housing, but the pitch was kept as grass so local children could carry on playing football on it.

Coventry City moved on to the Ricoh Arena, now the Coventry Building Society Arena, in the north of the city.

All four homes are about 2 miles by road from Hillfields, so the choice comes down to group size: Humber Hub for up to 10 with an en-suite for every bedroom, Stoke Lodge or Stoke House for nine with two bathrooms, Sullivan Heights for up to six with a private garden.
