Corley is the village most drivers on the M6 know for its services, with a twelfth-century church and a prize-winning cricket club.
Corley, with its hamlets of Corley Ash and Corley Moor, is a village and civil parish in North Warwickshire, about five miles north-west of Coventry and two miles south-east of Fillongley. It had 810 residents at the 2021 census.
The M6 runs close by and Corley Services makes the name familiar to anyone who uses the motorway. Corley Hall dates from the sixteenth century and the parish church of St Mary from the twelfth; the church is Grade II* listed.
Half a mile east of the village is the sandstone outcrop of Corley Rocks, once the southern edge of the territory of the Cornovii tribe. Corley Ash lies north of the motorway, while Corley Moor sits a mile and a half west of the village, its southern houses inside the City of Coventry.
Corley Cricket Club has a proud record: James Ormond played here before representing England and in 2012 it beat more than 1,500 clubs to be named the Biggest Little Cricket Club in England and Wales.
